Quality Improvement
Supporting QI in Long-Term Care
Health Quality Ontario (HQO) champions quality improvement (QI) in the long-term care sector as a partner in Residents First, one of the most comprehensive and innovative QI initiatives in Canada. This provincial initiative supports long-term care homes in Ontario in providing an environment for their residents that enhances their quality of life. Residents First also facilitates comprehensive and lasting change by strengthening the long-term care sector's capacity for QI. More >>
Primary Care
For most Ontarians the support they receive from their primary care practitioner is pivotal to maintaining good health and wellness. HQO aims to help advance the quality of people’s primary care experiences across the province through knowledge exchange and resources developed by the Quality Improvement Innovation Partnership (QIIP). Community and Acute Care
Under the Excellent Care for All Act Health Quality Ontario has the mandate to help advance the quality of care and develop QI initiatives for community care providers and acute care hospitals. As of April 2011, all Ontario hospitals submitted a copy of their annual quality improvement plan (QIP) to HQO in order to allow a province-wide comparison of, and reporting on, a minimum set of quality indicators. HQO is also moving forward with quality improvement initiatives developed by the Centre for Health Quality Improvement (CHQI) and building on past successes. For information on these continuing initiatives: More >>
